I've just got a 2nd hand ezy se 5.8, i think 2002/3 model and when max downhaul is applied the sail only goes loose down the top 3 batterns, then the leech is as tight as for the rest of the way down.
the sail has a great shape and looks great bottom end, but not so great for top end -My other sails tend to go loose much further, when maxed out.
Is this normal for ezys?
Could it be a mast thing, i rigged it on an arrows 430/21 skinny? I've got a fiberspar 460/25/25 fat pipe mast, but haven't tried it yet as i never want to touch it again ha ha .![]()

Ju,
This sounds normal to me. I have the same sail from the same vintage. To max out the bigger wave SEs you have to give heaps of downhaul compared to the smaller sizes. Outhaul is important too. If it's on the windy side, make sure that you give it at least the length of the marker rope or even a touch more. This improves sail stability a lot, even though it does cost a bit of bottom end grunt. However, if its windy that doesn't matter.
Cheers, Jens
