I reno'ed an old board just recently with some new straps and regluing the pads. Took the board out on the weekend in a nasty 30 knot stormy (I haven't used this board for 2 years). The straps felt pretty good. I'm very happy with them. The only downside is the board is now harder to carry, as the foot strap is fatter and harder to hold... but I guess you can't have everything !
For JP boards, there is a bit of a trick when using the existing JP clamps. The dealer suggested this tip (thanks Mark !)
