Got my new 5.3 last week, well worth waiting for!
Tried it's bottom end out last weekend, 12-15knots, chest to logo high waves. Sail had plenty of grunt in the light wind, rotates smoothly, at miniumum setting (don't have to pump the sail let alone give it a good kick). It's very light and easy to manouver, making wave riding lots of fun.
Tried it's top end out today, 25 knts with 30 knot gusts, straight onshore, (the graphs show a couple of 35 knt gusts, but we waited those out)
Sail perfomed incredibly, with outhaul and downhaul just about on max, I was still powered up in the lulls, really flying in the 30kt gusts, but still very comfortable, this sail is just so stable!!! Hardly feel the gusts, just go faster.
Harness line position unchanged from low wind position last weekend.
One mate arriving at the beach, asked me what I had up, (he's about 20kgs heavier than me), I said I was on the top end of the 5.3, so he put up a neilpryde 5.0, he got about 100 meters, went back and changed down to a 4.5! Don't think I'd want to wave sail this powered up, but it's a real fun blast!!!! Now I need steady 18 to 20 knots to try it's middle range, I'm sure I won't be dissapointed!!!!!
