AEROTECH STD BOARD BAGS

Stuart Bell is selling AEROTECH STD BOARD BAGS for $100.
The price seems acceptable. Is the quality OK?
Anyone has one of these bags?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I've got one. the zip sh#t itself after the first sail. The shop(2nd wind) organised for the zip to be replaced.This zip lasted another month. i have not bothered to get it fixed again.

I have one of their heavy duty adjustable bags(got it off Rik in Gero in 06) and it is unreal and the zips look way more heavy duty.

As usual cheap is not always good IMHO

What bags have a good reputation?
Should I buy an exact size or should I allow for some slack?

Go to any camping trailer fabricator, they will make you up a board bag that wont give up on you, for about the same price

how many boards did you try and stick in there bender i'm amazed they replaced it thumbs up for 2nd wind

Prolimit and Flying Objects both are great bags. I've had 5 or 6 prolimit bags now without any dramas at all.

Get it fitted properly but not tight enough where you put pressure on the zip over a rail. The size depends on the shape of the board, rounded/square nose boards often have to go up to around +10cm in length unless the bag is made specifically to suit that shape. If you leave fins over 40cm in board you may have to go a little bigger also so you have enough slack to get fin into cutout on bag.

There are bags for specific purposes too, most are just a cover preventing cosmetic/sun damage. If you travel look for a bag with extra padding around rails.

Try the "Flying Objects" or "Gun Sails" bag(Windsurfing Sales),both are very good

I can just fit the board into my car, and if taking someone along, sometimes on the roofrack so it needs a light protection from dings, scratches and the black rubber marks the roof rack will leave. Also from the general handling whilst parked in the backyard.

I believe a tailor made bag (as Mineral suggested) would be good, but it's just easier to buy ready made from the shops.

I saw Flying Objects around at $185 for my board (Fanatic Shark 160L, 268cm x 80cm).

I'll see if I can also find the distributors of the Guns and Prolimit bags and pick one.

Main thing is the zip - we use real YKK #10 vislon with plastic sliders on the Flying Objects travel covers to make sure there's no issues with breakage or corrosion.
Also check the fit of the board cover - a lot of the cheaper bags can be pretty outdated in terms of the board shapes they were designed to fit.

Windgenuity for prolimit.
Windsurfing sales for gun.

I forgot gun, they make good looking bags. I have no experience with their zips apart from one of their quiver bags i've got which is fine.

Ben's bags seem the toughest of the standard type bags.

It has come to the choice between Flying Objects, Gun and Prolimit.
The prices are quite similar too so better to by in Perth than pay for the delivery too.

I liked the Gun bag, but it was hard to find Perth retailers and the sizes did not match my board. Prolimit looks nice but again, local retailers...

I think I made up my mind for the Flying Objects.

Everyone's feedback really helped greatly.

I just received a pair of 8ft Squid board bags that I use for my wave and speed boards, great quality and quite reasonably priced. www.squid.net.au
I am pretty sure they advertise on seabreeze.

I just moved the board from my dinghy into a spare bedroom, and managed to hit just about every brick wall along the way, and wished I had it already...

Their web site is a sort of "under construction" and the product line is a bit unclear.
I live North of the river, so Windforce is probably the closest one for me, and given they offer what I need at $180, I'll probably go there.
A custom made may become too much of a trouble.
Still appreciate your feedback. I didnt' know they did custom made.

My board is a bit large (160L) so I'm a bit worried over a surfboard bag fitting, so I'll still go with the Flying Objects. Having said this, this is the first time I hear of them, their pricing is quite reasonable and I saved the shortcut. Thanks for that.
