Quick review of the 2017 Simmer 2XC 7.1 (twin cam)
I wanted a mid-size sail that is fast and controllable for offshore blasting and Swan River NMs - the 2XC fits the bill perfectly.
The sail is noticeably light and I reckon looks awesome in yellow. Overall quality is as good as I've seen.
The two RDM cams (a SDM bottom cam is included) popped on my HSM HotRod 430 RDM constant-curve mast easily without spacers and rotated like a dream. Even with the downhaul cranked on, the sail has heaps of shape beneath the boom - so nice low-end grunt.
The clew is quite high but actually works well in the chop. The big mast cutout means the boom attaches quickly (much easier than with a race sail) and allows a big height range of sailors. I'm 6 feet and my boom goes about a third up the cutout.
I like using full race sails at smoother ocean spots like Leighton - but where the chop is nuts the lightness, easy power delivery and control of the 2XC means I go just as fast.
Bought the sail from Jesper at simmerstyle.com.au - I got a 25% discount as it's a 2017 and it arrived airfreight from Europe in only about 8 days - at no extra cost.

thought HSM was soft/flex top
always like to hear about these sails working with RDM
no need for an AO ? adjustable outhaul ??
Yes, HSM RDM are slightly flex top but seems to me to work great with the 2XC.
Perhaps might rig a smidge better with the rec. Simmer RDM and the lighter weight would be noticeable - HSM 90% Hot Rods are bulletproof, but heavy.
Don't need the adjustable outhaul but it's useful for upwind, downwind sailing.
Nice rig ...and nice in yellow .25% off..good deal.
I'll keep a eye out for you at Melville .can't miss ya .
