Severne has launched marketing material for some of their 2014 sails.

Really like the look of the Blades and S1 in red... can't say I am a fan of the blue scheme. But I guess that comes down to taste.

BUT what I really like is that Severne managed to squeeze 5.6 down to 4.7 onto a 400 mast. Weight of the S1 is pretty impressive too.

In theory you should be able to put a 5.6 together weighing a bit over 6kgs all up. Especially us heavier riders always struggle finding a big size wave sail setup that doesn't weight a ton.

Anyone know if there are any S1s / Blades available for testing?

Also wonder what they mean by two 2014 S1 sails will cover what 3 sails would cover you for in the past... does that mean I can use a 5.6 / 4.8 and it being the same as 5.6 / 5.0 / 4.4 previously? If so that would certainly be an interesting concept.

Any idea how much they will sell for?

I think you'll find they have increased the wind range of the sails therefore needing less sails to cover the same range.

S1's actually look a touch heavier this year, I'm talking minimal though, like 50g. Probably comes about due to the reduction of E5 which now isn't the whole top of the sail, partly now E3.

Love my 2013 S1's but yeah the top end range can be a bit sketchy haha. As for price, not sure on this years pricing but last year they were at least 30-40% cheaper than anything from Pryde or North.

^^It was light but enough, only got on the plane twice the rest of the time I was slogging. Nice day though, Water was nice and though there was a lot of knee high slappers I got the odd chest high gem....Season open.

Has been the case for at least two years now, I dropped the 430 mast from my collection way back because of it!

TBH sounds like typical manufacturer marketing BS. Wasn't the naish chopper meant to do that last year?

Strange that there is a 4.5 and a 4.4, I guess the idea is that some people will go 5.6/5.0/4.5/4.0, and some people might go 5.2/4.8/4.4/4.0, two different sail quivers whilst maintaining sail gaps for those of us with serious OCD issues lol.

Probably only sail I was thinking of replacing was my '12 5.6 s-1 for a 5.6 freek, but it's now on a 430 mast so that's a bit fail...
