i bought a 2008 goya wave board because i was told by many people it was an awesome board ,,,,,....... i cannot figure out mast base /straps/fin position ........... board feels realy slugish and taked long time to get planeing ...... feels like its drifting sideways ( feels like no fin on )eventualy when i do get planing it wont go up wind or it will stop planing ..... in 30knots of breeze with a 4.2 i can only manage to just hold my position across the wind ... when i plane the board is 2 lively ..... i cannot controle it it is constantly tailwalking and .. is just unrideable ...... i have checked with the goya site and im useing proper fin .. i allways rig my sail with the right amount of downhaul ...... help please

What position do you have the footstraps in ?
Without seeing the set up I would suggest going for the centre positions or slightly forward of there (one hole)
From there you should be able to get a good handle on how it performs.
As a rough rule of thumb the mast base should be approx 1.35m from the tail of the board.
I think this is the 'so called' magic number.
If I have it wrong I'm sure it will pointed out and corrected.
Fin placement in the middle of the box gives you the best middle of the road performance while you are sussing the board out.
Out of interest what size fin are you running ?
Also what is the volume of the board and how much do you weigh ?
Next time you are at Nobbies ask one of the locals to have a look. They're a good bunch and should be able to throw you a few pointers.
If you can get hold of MA he should be able to set you straight in terms of trim and set up for the board in question.
the board is 75l i weight 65 ... i only use it for hight wind days on lake macquarie.. its a 21 fin wave fin ... the fin that came with it .... my back strap is farward and the front strap i back ... i find it comfortable to have my feet closer together .... i do put my fin fully back .... i though it would help get more grip and drive ...
