Hey
Im looking at buying a new Naish boxer 5.8.
Can anyone who has used this sail comment on how it behaves in the water, the good things, the bad etc?
Im used to sailing on cambered sails, and am going for the boxer for its low-down power.
Cheers
Jake
Hi Jake
I used the boxer in small wave sailing conditions in Europe and everyone has been talking about the 'low aspect', well balanced swing weight of the package and I really felt the sail to be surprisingly light in your hands. To move the rig effort fore and aft when sailing upwind or wave riding was surprisingly easy, although you do need to be aggressive when you bottom turn on a wave or high wind gybing and commit to the sheet in as the sail is powerful which is how these freestyle wave guru's are executing these crazy moves. beyond that the sail will have a lower top end speed than other high end aspect ratio sails but you should struggle to notice that...i would never pick that... I will definitely look at running them next season..
cheers Nick
