been out sailing on the 5.8 superfreak for a few a months now, and just had a few good sessions on it in the last 2 weeks, so thought i would write a review. i have used the sail for mainly light wind blasting in small waves/heavy chop, and just recently used it for the limited amount of freestyle i can do![]()
i have used this sail mainly on a 100 litre freestyle board, (jp) and also on a 110 litre carve, and also a 85litre wave board,
some things that have limited the performance of the sail is that i can only use it with a 430 sdm mast, or a 400 drop shape mast so i havent used it on a skiny mast yet and i would believe it will give it such a better feel to it.
with the super flat profile it is perfect for high winds, and wave riding, because you can release the power within a half a second, but also lock it in really fast, for carving up the wave faces it is perfect, because it realese and catches the wind so easily a fast, so for a for turn you get the power, but for a gentle turn you just let the power out and ride the face!
for free style, it is also good, becuase of the fact it is easy to catch the wind, it is easy to swing around into the wind, easy the sheet in and out, etc etc,
i found it easy as piss to duck gybe on it, and also what i call sail dancing, (swing the sail around you and the board by the clue first as done is a duck gybe) heli tacking was ok but i there wasnt really enough wind the swing me around,
clue first sailing was pretty good compared to pure wave sails, and backward stance was ok aswell but i didnt really play around with it that much.
for jumping it is good, but i didnt get much in so i cant say to much, but for the few jumps i got it was good, stayed nice and powerd up throughout the jumps and gained the powered up well enouph,
i will add more once i get more use in the waves, but right now i know that is gonna rip in summer for my lighter wind sail, and mederate to high wind sail for my dad![]()
