Quick and short review of the starboard Trance. A bit heavy yet in the wood version 8kg+. Came with a 24cm drake wave fin. Has weird bumpy pads which get in the way when slogging.

Straps are massive and soft, very comfortable less direct drive over the board. Non slip is excellent, pads very slippery despite being in great shape.

The board floats nicely, volume evenly distributed. 241x60cm nose is square, prone to damage. Planes comfortably and passively, feels like a freestyle board. Very soft touch over chop. Strong Vee.

Jibe is smooth controllable. The turning radius is definitely wide and wave riding will be challenging to anyone outside of (very) heavy weights. It felt a bit more towards freeride than Freewave.

Basically it felt like a direct opposite to the starboard newevo I had tested from 2013 however.

Had the smaller one maybe 12 years ago.
Very comfortable, too wide and floaty in the tail for 72 kg rider, planed and dropped in very predictably if not lazily, a great board for me at 72 years old, too boring for a 57 year old me.
A skilled Sunset Sailboards at 85 kgs made that board work in flat water and could slog it down to both thighs underwater. He didn't wave sail much those days, but did sail it in light LA San Pedro days.

Oh, he used to uphaul the 84 sunk thighs deep in the mud at Berkeley in maybe 3-7 knot breeze.
