Had a magic early morning session.20 knot sse flat on the banks and some fun chop in the channel. Not a soul in sight, could of been on the moon"nice break from a crowded week. Thanks to those on seabreeze who put me onto it.
The channel is a top spot and even better on a southerly with a big flood outgoing tide. Just before low tide it's great to head out on the flats for some speed runs. I still rate it as one of the best spots in SE QLD when conditions are right.
At low tide on a good S - SE I head out to the edge of the flats where they drop down into the bay. It's about a 2km trip from the old wreck site and it's where you get the chop and swell from the bay rolling onto the flats. You can do full bore speed runs and hit these 3 - 4 foot swells as they break on the flats and get some nice floaty jumps. I kite their now on the rare occasion and have had my biggest jumps at this spot.
Luckily kiters don't rate this area because of the wind shadow from the island and the deep water with current, they get nervous for some reason.
