If you're foiling, you can go anywhere when starting from Oatland esplanade. All the spots are good:

runaway bay and surrounds have free parking. Be prepared to fork out $$ for parking in the city i.e. the train. Very annoying. Not sure about currumbin beach - i think it's free.
