Has anyone stories to share of Windsurfing Fraser Island. I was up there on the weekend and by chance both a southerly was blowing and the windsurfer got packed.
Waddy Point has a great set up in a SE with cross to off shore with lagoons, a gutter and ocean options.
The Southern tip of Fraser also had a great gutter and passage option at Inskip
Blue Lake was also good but I didn't get any snaps and missed quite a few others when out sailing due to fairly uncommitted photographer.

We stayed at Waddy point two xmas' ago and it was blowin hard SE for the week but the lagoon was sheltered somewhat. Didn't have any gear but thought the lagoon in a NE would be perfect for speed runs (albeit only about 500m long). Thought exactly that about inskip point too although wouldn't want to be swimming my gear through there if you broke anything though - big current and potentially some big fish.
If you ever look down at the big fish well inside the breakers from Indian Head, your motivation to stay above the water would increase considerably. Waddy has the additional factor of tonnes of fish gutting in the lagoon.
It's hard to forget the memory of being bitten off with 100lb wire at night right up the end of the gutter.

I have sailed in 18 knots with outgoing tide at Inskip with one other sailor. The current rips pretty hard out in the middle.
You will feel great relief to make it back the beach in one piece.
Hmmm so I don't want to jump to conclusions here but I am picking up on a big fish theme from these stories.
Did I mentioned I was trawling a lure behind me to catch dinner and had cut my foot just before going in!
I haven't sailed the east coast of Fraser, but in the late 80s I sailed with 2 mates, from Urangan to the north west coast of Fraser across Harvey bay and back on race boards.
