Hi Guys,
putting out the word that this Sunday 13/9 is the calendar slot for the One Design meet at Lake Cootharaba.
Peter has asked me to pass on his apologies for sunday. So the plan is for those attending to join the racing at the LCSC or just go for a blast.
cheers
Justin.
I'll be sailing both races on my raceboard, but I can also throw my wally on the racks and bring it up to the lake if anyone wants to take it around the buoys. First-in, best-dressed etc, but preference will be given to someone who wants to race.
Also LCSC has some gear if anyone wants to give course racing a go. We're not sailing for sheep stations up here - just do as many laps as you can (maximum of 3 for wallys and hybrids - 4 for raceboards). Results are calculated on yardstick, based on average lap times. It's a great way to improve your skills having a target (the windward, wing and leeward marks) and a benchmark to pace against (the other boards and dinghys).
It's what all the cool kids are doing: last weekend we were the biggest class in terms of entries out on the water.
Oh and of course, for when too much sailing is never enough, we don't clash with RQ's Saturday racing...
@duncan. Race board??? I thought you were true blue wally
Shifted into the fast(er) lane Jeff.
Wallys are fun in one-design racing, but no-one ever showed up in good numbers at the lake, whereas we usually get a good raceboard turnout at LCSC regattas such as mono-masters etc. Also with the raceboard worlds likely to come to Brisbane in 2016 and nationals this year, thought it might be fun to have a crack at it.
Morning race at 11.00
Afternoon race at 1.30
Sign on upstairs in the clubhouse
Entry fee is $10 for one race $15 for two races.
plenty of one designs coming to burrum Duncan.
or there is the raceboard class which fits nicely between the nationals and the worlds.....
guys I swung by goodtime today to check out a one design they have in the racks for sale.
it's a retractable centreboard model. centre board had a very small chip out of the bottom of it.
at a guess I'd say early retractable centreboard model, possibly first version after the original. has the dark red clear fin that looked mint and the screw down uni on the sliding track.
mast looked to be original didn't look at it removed from sail. sail was original and of course has delam so will need replacing at some point probably soonish.
board looked to be in very good condition and I'd say not used much but I didn't weigh it so hard to tell if it's ever had a small nic etc.
coupla hundred..................
perfect one design to get you on the water and racing or cruising with the family.
Big question
- Did duncansayers sail on a Wally yesterday?
You'll have to go in the nationals now duncan, to make up for the lack of Wallying!?!
Good day at the Lake? cheers, WindsurferOD
Duncan sailed his f2 lightning.
Josh sailed the only wally and very fast.
Ken sailed a Kona
Jeff on phantom 377
Russell and I on phantom 295
Brian on phantom 320.
Definitely a great day of sailing on the Lake.
next one design meet is 18th October at Mooloolaba. I think Josh is organising it.
will see everyone there.
sounds great Gestalt
Go Joshbonga!
thanks for the update tonymatta
cheers, windsurferOD (= whoever is writing for the association at the time
