Hi guys, I'm heading out tomorrow somewhere. Atm in Townsville but wana drive somewhere else and more exotic. Willing to drive 2-3 hrs each way if it's good. Predicting 20knots by midday. I was thinking Alva or Bowen.
Anyone else heading out tomorrow?

cheers

tides will not be too good at alva as there is alot of sand in the lagoon, the outer sand bank has broke through and it s going to be some time before the chanel is good, bowen might be good of queens in the arvo.snorkel sails off maggi island in easterlys and loves it

I went out this arvo after work in Mackay. Was only blowing 12-15 ESE and I wouldn't expect any more than that here tomorrow. Was a nice afternoon though.

tides are fuller in the arvo .try don river if it turns to a n/e sea brease tomorow in the arvo.jetty is great in the mourning on a above 2.0 meter tide in s/e

How'd you go in Bowen mate? Get a good sail?

If you're in Townsville seriously consider a Magnetic Island trip. The Sou'easters are a few knots stronger than on the mainland but the NE is similar strength. The duck's nuts is a morning southerly at Geoffrey Bay at mid to high tide- these are absolute scores for bump and jump. Water is much bluer, swell is more consistent rather than just being short chop and being able to see the bottom is a big bonus. Tides need watching and some of the headlands cause wind holes but overall I reckon its better than Ville local mainland sailing.

Mainland or island hope to see you on the water!

Yeh was fun, patchy closet to shore but great to get out. Wind increased later past 20 I reckon.

No hire gear on the island. Ferry is pretty liberal with what you can take though!

Just had a great session on an Ultrasonic and 9.5 off Geoffrey in the early 10-12knot SE. Water way out just now but NE building for what promises to be a great session. My tip for here is there is enough swell to make freerace/ fast Freeride gear more fun than slalom. And just every so often the waveboards come out here. Not today.

Nice one snorkel
I didn't bring much gear from Sydney. Just my slalom 113l and 88l Exocet wave. Sail sizes from wave style 4.8 - 6-2 and Severne turbo 7.5m. Do you live on the island? Can I hire gear off you next wke if wind permits?

Hi Mitch I live on the mainland (much as I'd like to live on Maggie). Not sure if I'll be there next weekend but I'll PM you if I will be and how to find me. No gear hire it'd have to be a borrow! Your 7.5 Turbo will be a very useful sail in Townsville - good choice!

If you take gear over on the ferry do they let you take gear on the buses that run from say Nelly Bay over to Geoffrey?
