Friend of mine wants to learn the art of sailing... he lives in brizzy and I don't know the big city enough... any suggestions on a shallow bay/lake, windy but not too choppy.

Cheers

Hi Jeff, what's a good spot near bribie isl? Is it good between the island and mainland? He will probably be using the uphaul rope quite a bit so waves aren't too great.. I'd like to try it down there, when I came to visit the wind was roaring.
Cheers

Golden beach has s great area to learn. Shallow clear water sandy bottom. Check around Jellico st. About half tide up works best.

That's pretty much where I'll be... depending on parking availability... I think wind is just picking up atm. Should be fun!

Watch the current at GB guys it can be savage and traffic from boats and jet skis. Lake Cootharaba is by far the best, shallow and no current but it is a bit of a drive

Well, wasn't many ppl at jellico rd... I think I know why... was good for my m8 to learn, but when I jumped on the board, I got stuck in that sand bank after 5 seconds. Then it's walking half a k on it to the other side or come back... not going back there... weyba n cootharaba is better around here or up at the river mouth of GB... good fun for him tho.. bit of a violent wind at the end, but all good. Gotta start somewhere.
