Hey folks,

Westerlies look like fun this weekend. What minimum tide do you reckon the eastern side becomes sailable?

Cheers

1.4 meters it become sailable. Very shallow, worth doing a few cautious runs. Best to stay wide of bank especially if not sailing with smaller weed fin...bank goes under at 1.6 so window for flat water is very narrow.
But then again there are more options than Wello on a westerly. Have fun

Thanks Mate. What are you other westerly recomendations? Flat or waves.

I mainly sail flat water but getting the wave gear going again, happy valley Caloundra (small waves) is great in SW/ WSW incoming tide only as the current is a bit hairy.
Planning to launch at low tides Aquatic paradise (Thornside), super flat on low tide. Works W through WNW. Only a short drive back to Wello for the high tide on the eastern side.
Also Bongaree at Bribie island mix of Bumpy water with some flat water on the other side of channel towards Sandstone.
Some have sailed Woody Point at Redcliffe but haven't been there myself since the 80's.
There are some lucky GPS sailors who have boats and get out to Days Gutter...

Can you sail straight out through the Aquatic Paradise canal at dead low tide in a westerly? I've don before but could not remember the wind direction.

What days are people getting out this weekdend? Wello looks perfect this arvo high tide etc.

No you need to launch at first green beacon. Was a bit to much of a mission for the rewards. Wello was patchy and light... maybe tomorrow
