NSW has had a very active competition running for many years, mostly around formula and raceboard classes but now its going to incorporate foiling as well. We should have one as well

In Qld we now have 7 clubs, 4 in Brisbane 2 on Sunshine Coast and 1 on the Gold Coast. Seems like the time is right to start some interclub competition. An annual series like NSW do, Set the dates and venues. Set the course on the day to suit ie under 15knots windward leeward course using raceboards, formula or foils over 15 knots slalom and/or freerace racing.

I am also involved in trying to set up a "little ripper series" for juniors (like NSW has), it hasn't really got very far but if we the WQ clubs could take on one interclub event a season I am sure we could bolt the Little Ripper events onto the same day quite easily.

Anyone interested??

I was thinking the KISS principal would be the go, each interested club can nominate a date and event that suits them, first in first served basis.

I am going to approach the guys at RQ to make the Green Isl Marathon/Waterloo Bay cup one of the events. Yet to be confirmed but some time in December sounds good to me for that event.

as for the Little Ripper Series the Qld techno association would organise that although its not a one design (techno) event, basically small inshore slalom course with 3.5 and 4.5 and open category up to a certain age (big emphasis on FUN). Not exactly sure of the details yet but we would follow the NSW model so that it one day becomes part of a National program (think of tackers but for windsurfing).

Just need the clubs to supply some kids on the day.

Hi Cam,
Spoke with RQ and would like to run the first rippers league on the 13th of January. Bic techno boards are mandatory for the league. This will create the critical mass for racing in future. The argument to have one board during comp is also fairness of it, as other boards will perform better or worse despite the level of athletes. The sails are non camber sails up to 4.5m2. All in all, please book the date 13th of January for all the kids and keen youth. Will have 13 boards and sails to use for $15 a day, BBQ and lots of good conversations on the beach.
