Lovely Sunday afternoon session at sandstone point.
Mill pond conditions in close and 2 ft swell out in middle of passage.
Gentle winds 8.5 sail. Took out the 155 Go - wanted to work on controlled planing and getting into the footstraps.
Must say this thread in general section
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/General/still-cant-get-to-the-straps/
has given me some ideas, especially the bit about keeping everything steady and not disturbing the trim.
Planing on all my runs and mostly in controll. No catapults but a few aerial maneuvers :-( when resorting back to bad habits of standing up when loosing control of the board over the bumps.
Foot in front strap most of the time -getting there :-)
At the moment the left foot is working much better than the right??? I need to loosen the right side strap a touch as I upset the board as I struggle with getting the right foot in. One run had the rear foot sitting by the strap - almost there!
One run was way out into the middle of the channel. Just lost track getting into the joy of the blast. The board bouncing over the chop was my signal that I'd certainly left the beach far behind. Managed to up-haul out in the swell - piece of cake after yesterday's lesson in the surf at Queens. I was a little overwhelmed getting the 8.5 sail into water start position in the rolling chop.
I was able to waterstart the 8.5m cammed sail in the gentle breeze :-) once back in the quieter waters closer to shore.
A great day putting in 'time on water'
Had a good chat to the two Marks that were also enjoying the gentle conditions - they were on smaller boards and rigs.
Enjoyed my $2 coffee at the servo on the way home - a tony Nowork tradition :-)
Cheers Jeff
Hi Jeff
Sounds like you had a good session on the weekend - must have been the weekend for it.
Like the sound of the $2 Coffee afterward
Cheers
Morgan
really wanted to sail on the weekend with you guys, but ran the Spartan obstacle race on Saturday morning, can not believe how sore my body is, every single muscles tells me to stay on the floor, could not have been possible to hang on to a boom, catch you guys next weekend I hope. keep trying on that back foot jeff.
Yes Tony you missed the coffee ![]()
It was good so I went back for more this arvo. Had to be a very brief session - had to juggle less than average tide along with getting home in time to get Max to cubs!
Wind was much less than expected although spitfire said 19k?
I wanted to practice tacks and gybes so rigged up my 6.6 sail. However on a warmup run I got the Go onto the plane. So spent the arvo enjoying the ride.
So making progress as I haven't been able to get the Go moving in light winds with this sail. I'm usually on a much bigger rig.
A few runs - an hour and half on the water and home to get the kids sorted!
Happy days
Cheers Jeff
