Hello Queenslanders from a NSWelshman. I'm really keen to do another expedition and when corvid restrictions lift I'm thinking of Fraser Island. I've done this sort of thing before, ie touring on a big windsurfer, as the Kayak guys do on a camping expedition.

So far only thing Ive been told are there are lots of sharks.
Im interested to know about tides, areas that are maybe too shallow, currents, availability of stores, or water, and what the beaches are like, ie all dense muddy mangrove, or nice sandy beaches.
Anyone with experience sailing say up through the straits, starting at rainbow beach .
What do you think, or would I be better off doing some slightly different approach.
Also if anyone has some advice on the local marine rescue (ie is there a join up?)
Also has anyone experience of some sort of micro distillation set up. Water is always the killer in weight, but generally its easy to light a small fire.
Time of year and regulations, and patrols etc?
