Racing Sundays @ Whitsunday Sailing Club

Hi all,

WSC (Airlie Beach) are happy to have windsurfers in the fleet for Sunday off the beach racing. Season began last week. I'm racing here every week on a Windsurfer One Design, and would welcome any competition! Raceboards, WODs or any longboards. 1.00pm start on the water. Great grass area for rigging and washdown. Hope to see some more boards out there for regular racing!

Hey mate, the course is set depending on the wind direction, we usually sail just on the edge of the moorings, sometimes around them making for fun tactical racing. Sometimes a bit gusty, but always enough breeze for the longboards. We start with the lasers, usually three races back to back, windward lewards. 5 4 1 start sequence, really well organised and motivated committee, very welcoming of sailboards. I usually get there after 12pm, race starts 1pm. They have food and drinks afterwards so no need to drive home hungry. Hope to see you tomorrow or another day soon. Regards, Dennis.

Just need to get there now. No thrashing me on your Wally when I'm on my RB...too disheartening!! I'll let you know when the scheduling gods smile upon a trip south

Thanks to Brett for coming up - he beat me in two of the three races, and I think I only won the last after Brett got tangled in the maze of boat moorings. And Brett, I should've warned you that the kids on the lasers can slow you down when they try to trip you up with their tiller extensions! It was so good to have another board out there, cant wait to get a few more. We've already won some fans among the teenagers, just from one session of showing them what we do.
Start considering the easter regatta everyone, best bit being we should be able to camp on the club grounds 14th to 17th april.
