Does anyone know where to get hold of RSX spare parts? I need a batten #7 for an 8.5 sail, and the RSX store only has #5 and #6 battens. Or are you supposed to buy the bigger battens and then cut them down?

Hudson at SHQ in Melbourne

Most of the RSX sailors just buy the bigger battens as spares and cut them down so one size fits all.

I have a few old battens, perhaps one can be cut down to suit

Thanks for the info.

@cammd: so the battens are the same apart from the length of the tube part? If that's the case and you have one 1710mm long (without the adjuster), I'd be happy to buy it from you.

@JustinL: I did see that online store, just couldn't believe that could be the only/best way to buy bits in AUS. There's enough dodginess around the RSX web presence (Google saying neilpryde.com "may be hacked", and the AUS class association website going to a placeholder on Fox sports) that I was inclined to be suspicious of an O/S ecommerce site, but you've set my mind at rest on that score at least.

Sorry Jamie I had a look in my old batten collection and nothing quite long enough that wasn't already broken

No worries Cam. Looking at the battens in the sail, the #7 is quite different to the #6. Mind you it could be a frankenbatten - it certainly has been sleeved and repaired, which is why it's too short and I need to replace it.
