I received the following information from RQYS...

Cameron Whitford was awarded a Sail Sports Volunteer Award at our Club Member of the Year & Volunteer Thank You Awards dinner held earlier this month. Cameron was presented with this award for his dedication to Sailboarding which has seen the Squadron become the Australian Sailboard Centre of Excellence.

...huge effort in getting all those Groms on the water for the betterment of Windsurfing. Well done Cam. They should make you the Commodore.

Thanks. So many people involved to run the program in particular Dave Sterling and Shari Obrien have put in so much and will do again next season.

Biggest thank you is to the kids and parents for supporting it so well without you there would be no program. Seeing everyone come week after week keen to windsurf keeps us all motivated and we are looking forward to a Bigger and better season in spring. The new storage and office will be built by then and we are developing new programs to train the existing members in more advanced techniques whilst still catering for beginners

Well deserved Cam - you clearly love what you do - our sport, particularly at RQ, would not be where it is without your efforts and that of the O'Brien's and Sterling's. The next few years are looking very bright for longboards and raceboards. The 40 and 50 something's are returning to the sport in increasing numbers, but what is even better is the youth coming through.

Great work Cam, you deserve it!
And also thanks to everybody supporting you; Dave Sterling, Shari Obrien and others.
You're sacrificing a lot of your time and you achieved a lot. It's fantastic for windsurfing community as well as RQYS.
Can't wait to take my son to your program, just have to wait a year or two as he's only 5 yo.
Cheers
George

Well deserved Cam, amazing program you guys have created... Your team should be showered with gifts from the windsurfing manufacturers for keeping their business and our sport alive in this country (well at least Brisbane area!) through getting these kids hooked!
Hopew good karma comes yo pour way and the rest of the team involved.
