HI everyone.. I mainly sail the south coast NSW however Im going to be in Brisbane from 12th to the 14th for three whole days of sailing.. I have to leave the trailer and bring only a couple of sails and one board,, thinking my 8.4 7.5 and 6.5 not looking for a speed busting gusty day ..... Is there a thread here or a guide on the places to sail depending on the wind and the chance of other sailors sailing as well...

Plenty of punters who can provide advice on that. What suburb will you be in. There are Northside and Southside options with a $9.60 toll bridge in the middle.

I'll be staying in the city center... looks like Manly is the closest sailing place. does this work with most winds in Brisbane

No not used to rough water.. all my sailing spots are flat water. might swap my Starboard 122 for my older heavier race board to stop from getting to much air

Hey mate - BNE options:
Manly - as mentioned gets lumpy when wind gets in.
Wellington Point (bit further around the bay than Manly) - it it is N/NE breeze there is a bank at low tide that you can sail behind on a lower tide for a bit of "flatter" water. On a S/SE it gets lump when the breeze comes in.
If it is flat water that you are after you may want to travel down to the Gold Coast seaway.
enjoy the holiday

Sorry - forgot Queens Beach at Redcliffe - swell is quite a bit larger than the other spots

Im in toowwomba now till thursday. Ive got my big heavy race board and my lighter formula board and three sails 8,7,6 the weather looks good atm for friday and sat. Question is there a sailing shop around brisbane where I can get some sail patch from I have a small tear in my 8 where it hit a tree. the gold coast is going to be too far away for me. where is the best place to rig up at Manly. Ive never been there and will be relying on good ole TOMTOM.. Another question outta curiosity. does anyone sail to the island and back from manly or is it just too far/ too dangerous??

Gday, you won't need your 8, so not urgent to get repaired. Can you use some tape as a temp repair? The island?? I am guessing you are talking about Moreton... I haven't herd of anyone sailing there, it's a bloody long way to sail in one direction, then come back!!

Well it was fun. Didnt go to any spots in brissy. Instead went to the Gold Coast. . Sail at just north of broad water parklands for the three days

Palleaon,

We met while I was rigging on Saturday at the Train on the Broadwater. I didn't see you later on the water. Did you get out on Saturday and Sunday? If so, how did it go?

In the end it was a friday and Sunday sail. Sunday was far better had the 7.5 on the race board and getting some decent runs. sailed for 6 hours strait on Sunday. I managed to sail the flat water behind in between the two sand bars with a couple of other speed addicts. Also thanks to the guys down there for saying hi and showing the best way to get the most out of the area
