I posted some information previously regarding this years Pan Pacific Games to be held on the Gold Coast. Ty Chapman from Events Management Queensland has sent me some more information and a notice of race to provide to anyone who is interested in competing. From what I can gather it is a course racing event open to all windsurfers suitable to that format (i.e able to sail upwind - longboards, formula, rsx, techno etc).
If you are interested, over 40 and have the suitable equipment let me know and I will forward all of the information I have on it and Ty's details if you need any more information. My email is scotf@f3id.com.
i believe that 30 is the minimum age requirement.

I believe that these blokes are trying to mislead SWAT. We will have to go and get some raceboards and rain on their parade!! I only hope that when they run the sailing won't clash with my Calisthenics routine.

I think if we were talking about the number of catapults in a given season I may have a chance at dominating but outside of that I haven't ever dominated anywhere but thanks for the compliment anyway.
I was planning of doing this event however I just signed up for a bike ride around Tassie starting on the 8th so I won't be entering now.
There is only one week to go until early bird fees for this year’s Pan Pacific Masters Games finish! If you haven’t entered already, don’t miss your chance to save on fees by entering before 11:59pm (AEST) on Wednesday 3 September! #PPMG14 Link

I have been advised by Ty that the regatta is open to all “off the beach” dingy, multi hull, windsurfer and Hansa classes, so any windsurfer will be accepted but be advised that the course will have an upwind component so you would want to bear this in mind when choosing your board type.
What windsurfer class is the racing? Haven't been able to get a straight answer from the organisers after two emails. I suspect its what ever you like so it might be wallys against formula. Anyone got the right answer?

Its whatever you like, but you can guarantee it won't be formula's, there's not enough room around the course its mostly in channels, best board to use would be a raceboard or wally something that can point high and sail very deep.

I would be backing a Raceboard (very fast growing class) against both of those. Although, legend has it that Steve Allen won a course race on slalom gear at the Lake once upon a time. Scary stuff.
i have not raced in a few years, i guess you need to be a member of a club/association?;
All participants are to hold a current Yachting Australia silver card and must provide their card number at the Paradise Point Sailing Club registration check-in before competition.
G'day Guys
Anyone going to this, what are people sailing ?wally or raceboards?. would be good to know a few were going before I sort out time off work.
thanks Nev

yup I was in the race. it was also in marginal conditions. his level of skill is insane.
at burrum a slalom board also beat longboards/one designs around an upwind downwind course in about 12 knots. again person with a boat load of experience and skill.
Calling all Raceboarders/Windsurfers.

Steve has entered. I am about to. But we have only go until Tuesday to do it. Who's keen?
Sooo close
But after 17 months of living the life of leisure I finally got a job, so finally working for money ![]()
Is anyone else interested in racing in this event. It needs some numbers to make it worth while for everyone so if you are interested don't be shy and get involved.
There's been a few late entries so the Pan Pacs organisers have confirmed that it's all on. Just a reminder that competitors need to register at the GC Convention Centre before Tuesday.
Also, I have a old Speed 250 Raceboard (that's still goes OK) if any one would like to borrow it for this event (I think you can still enter).
Pan Pacs going nicely. Great light wind racing.
Five competitors.
Richie Reynolds from Sydney has been wining all the races.

Also got a big spread in the local gold coast paper.
Brendan and Steve have been slogging it out for second and third.
I have been consistently fourth.
Lucas Dean has been doing his best to catch us on his old Fanatic Mega cat and ancient V8 8.5m sail.
First time back on his board since 20 years. Welcome back Lucas.
The Pan Pacs 2014 have been run and won by Richie Reynolds from Sydney. I picked up the silver and Steve Comiskey, who's shaping up to be a real contender, took out the Bronze. Lucas Dean took out the Gold in the youthful 30-40 age category and Tony Matta won the 50-60 category, whilst keeping the 'younger' guys very honest. A big thank you to John Murphy from PPSC for hosting windsurfing at the PPMGs. The excellent windward-return courses within a channel created some exciting close racing. I really enjoyed the racing and I have to say that the organisation of the PPMGs was exceptional! Although the turn out wasn't huge, the organisers are encouraged to build on this for the next one in two years time. It's nice for windsurfing to be part of a much larger event.

Well done everyone. It's always good to get a medal, especially one the size of Brendan's ![]()
