Thinking about doing a sail out to Old Woman Island and down to Mooloolaba next Saturday - anyone keen to join if the weather is favourable?

Great idea, would say yes but have to work until 2-3pm so after 3pm may work for me. Jonese this is your spot man...go for it hey...
Actually it's the MMMM challenge....'unofficial' race DATE AND TIME TBC , But yes this Sat could be possible! Grand prize, 'bottle of rum' looks something like this...
MARCOOLA - MUDJIMBA- MAROOCHYDORE - MARCOOLA
all depends on what time the wind kicks in normally the NE is peaked from 1.30 or so...need to arrange wheels at the other end etc also,
Great if you can leave the wave/bump jump gear and some beer in an esky! at Mools in the waiting cars, the wind will either intensify or drop off late, hopefully the former, was some nice waves on Monday at Mools, fun session on a 5.2. ![]()
Anyone that's keen just PM me and I'll set up a group text for the gig, more the merrier (and less $$ you will have to contribute to the rum!)
Good parking and grass at Marcoola, couple of decent cafe's also.
Best to make sure your gear is in good nick, bring some spare rope/uni and a phone in a water proof bag...
It's a great run, and can get some decent swells out the back, haven't done it this season yet, forecast for Sat looks great for it,
Think Bryn is keen also, so that's about 4 so far..![]()
yep its rain check, Freerace at GB will be blast, (followed by waves bump and jump at Mooloolaba if it really kicks in!
Then the calendar is free to for the MMMM!
HI Guys,
I'm only a NOOB but would be keen, not this Saturday but at a later date.
I don't yet have a harness and I really would want one to do that run.
That is if you don't mind a slow poke tagging along. SUP sailing.
Cheers,
Ken

WOW, after seeing you guys racing yesterday, I doubt you would want me tagging along holding you back?
And that would be ok with me, but if you seriously don't mind then I would still like to join you sometime more than likely.
However after going out in 20 - 25 knots yesterday arv for the fist time I found that was too much wind for me to comfortably handle at present, 15 - 20 is where I am comfortable.
I was in awe of the speed you got! Absolutely gob smacked!
Videos don't really do speed sailing justice, so much faster looking in the flesh!
If I was to tag along, I would instead of the zig zag course you sail, as in above pic, I would just sail a straight line, trying to surf a few runners on the way.
I have done a few down winders from Jimby to Mools on my 14' race sup. I would simply do the same but with a sail instead of a paddle.
But I don't wish to inconvenience you, so I will totally understand if you prefer not to take me along.
Cheers,
Ken.
