Bayside Sailboards in conjunction with Freerace are very excited to annouce that we will be running events at Lake Cootharaba on the weekend of 22/23rd of February.
The annual Lake Cootharaba slalom races are always a cracker and now we will have the bonus of experiencing the new freerace GPS format as well.
This is always a great social weekend. There is plenty of accomodation at the lake with options from luxury houses to campsites by the water. Best of all, the Boreen Point village has an awesome pub!
Lock it in!
Bring the family or hot brazillian girlfriend! they are all welcome.

Digs sorted for Sat night, looking forward to the weekend and the "No $h&t! There I was" stories at the pub![]()
I now have a leave pass for Saturday as well so will enter both the freerace and slalom. Is anyone else camping at Boreen Pt on Saturday night?
Looks like a epic weekend for you guys, wish I could get up there. Oh well will have to settle for Queens and Beachmere.
What is the race schedule ? times etc ?
Registration at 12pm, first race at 1pm ![]()
Unfortnate that racing didn't come off but it didn't stop allot of bayside guys just tearing it up all over the lake instead.
And for anyone that wasn't sure what that noise was around 4pm and the blur across the lake ! It was a Van Der Plight boom.
Clocking an unconfirmed Lake record at 38 knots.
Was an awesome weekend of sailing, so much so that blackattack wore through the soles of his feet. This was the first freerace event I've been to and it was a great format that is a real challenge first time around. Running at top speed for an hour is a real feat and you need to have some resilience to keep pushing through for the hour.
I didn't get a result in the end due to a GPS glitch but I certainly had a great time and would recommend that others give it a try.
Thanks to the Windwanderers crew for putting on the day and to Dylan especially for running the event and dealing with the tracks etc even though he wasn't sailing. Very good of you mate.
Congratulations to Vando, I happened to be sailing upwind of him at the time and I lilerally saw a red flash scream past. The new Reflex 5 was just a blur!! Without a doubt the fastest I have ever seen anyone travel over the lake. Awesome weekend, plenty of laughs at the Pub on Saturday night.
Congrats all, I couldn't make it so had a sail at Sandstone Point instead. Congrats Vando on the unconfirmed Speed Record
