Heading Cotton tree for a week and seeking latest on river mouth for short board and also further upstream possible longboard, in either the southerly or northerlies coming next week? Staying in the campground there and whenever I take no gear the banks and wind directions look great, when I take gear the sandbanks attract my fin.
Any updates very welcome.

short board windy days in all but full out going tide, launch from the Marooochy ocean side and into the waves, can be really good sailing and waves, on right tide and good SE/NE winds.

light wind long board sailing just follow the boat channel markers, around the river, outside of those it's pretty shallow.

I was at Cotton Tree on the school holidays, only light winds but still had fun. When not teaching the kids to windsurf in the creek, went for an ocean cruise on the raceboard to Pt Cartwright, and Old woman island.

One morning wind was blowing cross-off shore with a nice little wave on the banks at the mouth (low tide). Had fun wind-supping down the line on clean little waves until the jetskiers turned the waves into a washing machine.
