I was at the sailability meeting about the new development this morning
it looks to me that it would be to our greatest advantage to support them

Clearly the Bayside Sailboard Club has no official land holding, however I for one believe we are stakeholders in this decision. I am shocked at the attitude both the state and Local governments have displayed towards an iconic community club like Darling Point and the many many amazing programs which are run out of that location.

The Sailability program is something which we windsurfers need to support. If anyone should understand the beneficial properties of being on the water its us!

Roko thanks for bringing this to our attention.

I went to the meeting at Darling Point club house on Monday Night to see local Member Neil Symes address stakeholders. He had met with the developers that day and claimed to have told them that he objected to the proposal in its current form. The site is currently held on a rolling lease and the Government have apparently given the proponents a "set amount of time" to come up with a workable proposal for the site. If they don't come up with something that meets the government's approval, Symes said the gov might ask for expressions of interest from the public for alternative proposals. We asked what the timeframe was and his babysitter advisor said that it was 'commercial in confidence' (which seems unlikely to me). Anyway, it’s all very complicated and sounds a bit dodgy. Apparently the Skiff club have had a proposal with gov for a while to return to the site but they are being ignored. I think some at the meeting were comforted by Symes’ attitude, but personally I’m not convinced. When Symes mentioned expressions of interest, his advisor tried to poor cold water on that idea pretty quickly.

That would be good if correct.

Still can't believe people voted for Symes.
