Hi guys i'm of to Harvey bay 30th September but want to sail at Burrum heads speed bank never sailed there before so a little information about the place would be great and some one to sail with there would be good to.
Duane,
The locals only sail Burrum Heads on a decent wind and tide forecast. The Burrum Heads banks are very tide and wind dependent. Its best in wind S to ESE when you have a low tide less than 0.8 around mid afternoon. The following is a URL of my tracks from KA72 for a session on 10th September 2015 when I sailed the Northern and Southern runs on the same afternoon. The wind started ESE and I sailed the Northern run and then swung to the SE and I switched to the Southern run. Note the large sand bank between the 2 runs. The water is calf deep at low tide on these banks. There is a good rigging location on Torbelaine St. The walk with your rig across the exposed tide flat to the channel is character building.

As you haven't sailed there before, make sure you contact the locals Geoff, Darryl and Andy, they will help with where to go and not to go. If the tide and wind are no optimum, you will be better off sailing at Urungan.
