Hi folks,
A friend of mine got a bit jealous seeing me cruising on the weekend, and thought he would like to give sailboarding a go. Thing is im lightweight, 63kg and ride a 85L sinking board, and he has no experience, weight around 110kg. I'm not sure he could even get on my board really...

So I thought of dropping a note here if someone has a bigger rig he could buy (cheap), get for free or borrow for a few days, just to see if he can get his head around it before he invests into a better one.

I don't think old board is an issue. Just as long as it floats.
I got a spare mast, sail and boom he can borrow so we are good on that, but he would like his own kit if possible.

Im hoping someone just got a garage full they need to clean up or they got too many gears at Christmas and want to get rid of their old junk. That would be much appreciated.

Also... I got no idea what a 110kg person would ride as a beginner... any advice to help him out please? Is a 120L too small?

Cheers

The bigger, the better. I have a few beginner boards for sale. Happy to give him a try. I will be at lake Cootharaba next weekend.

Agree
tonys big starboard start is probably the best option

not taking all my gear to lake this time (shock horror) as only staying a short time

welcome to come to lake and have a go on the big rio

cheers Jeff

Hey m8! That is great, can you tell me more about them plz? How many Ltrs, how much? I would love to come to cootharaba this week but the wind forecast looks pretty bad (4-10kts)... Im assuming he would need a good 15+kts to get a descent fun... and all I got is a 6.5m sail. But im willing to look it up still. Hey cheers everyone btw!

I wish I had yours phone# as I rarely look at this website... it would be easier to just text yous and check out where you are sailing next to catch up... I reckon he could probably use a trial first before deciding if it's for him or not... idk.. thanks again!

I go to weyba a lot... sometimes north shore from cotton tree or golden beach... I live in Mapleton, so weyba is easy access.
