I have been following a thread started by and organized by Kaleb Smith (www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/Tasmania/GPS-Multi-Comp-Sat3rd-and-Sun4th/), and after contacting him to make sure he was happy i would like to run a similar competition for us in Queensland.
Basically the rules are as stated below by Kaleb.

"There will be a state wide Gun Fight style Multi GPS Comp tba. Scores will be tallied as a total combined result from 2sec, 5x10, 1 hour, NM and Alpha.

Rules:
1/ Open location. You can sail anywhere in the state. You are permitted to sail at multiple locations if required, usual GPSTC rules apply. i.e. one clean file supplied per day.

2/ Only your best days total will be used. This means the comp is over two days but you only need to go out on one of the days to get a result. If you do sail both days only your best day's result will be used.

3/ All results must be uploaded to GPSTC via KA72. If your results do not appear in KA72 they will not be used. If you would like to be part of this event, please post here or send a pm to me to confirm. Only those that confirm their participation will be included in the results.

This is a fun event with no affiliation to any windsurfing association. There are no organising bodies and individual sailors are responsible for their own safety and others around them.''

If there is enough interest i would like to make this a monthly event to be called on a good forecast.

I intend to run an open competition and a handicapped competition (based on a % of your 2013 pbs on GTSTC).
The handicap system will benefit the casual/improving/ sailor. I am currently running a handicapped challenge for the Burrum Heads mob (www.facebook.com/groups/584746731548783/) with some success.

If you would like to take part post here or pm me.
Please note no prizes but considerable bragging rights.

Interesting. The concept is great but I like the idea of rewarding those that may not be the fastest but still improving PB's. I agree there is no need to change GPSTC but this could be a great "local" contest as an addition to the big scheme.
Cheers

Excellent idea King D. I'm in!!! I think that it should be run on two weekdays though. There are people that work on the weekends and they always miss out on the comps because of all those that decide to work during the week. Like Vando...

Sounds great , has any thought been given to weight divisions as well ? If you had all sailors weights and split field down the middle into light and heavy weights. Just a thought, as on light days leight weights do well and visa versa in a blow .

With the handicap system based on last years pbs you are only in effect competing against yourself so no need to
worry about weight. But it could be possible for the open competition, and also age categories too.
Just trying to keep it simple at the moment and see what interest there is.
