Hi guys,

I'm new to Windsurfing on GC so have a quick question - what's the best kit for GC conditions? Where are the best spots for WS? Where ppl and meeting to WS?

I've seen some WS on Narrow Neck, Currumbin and Rainbow Bay... when do you guys usually meet?

I've been windsurfing mostly inland waters but recently started (just started) open sea. Harness, footstraps not perfect jibe. That's why my water-start is almost perfect now ;P I'm 70 kg.

I was thinking about big wave board ~100l and quiver 4.7-5.9 as the winds are not usually too strong and I would like to get most of it!

It'd be awesome if someone can introduce me to WS on GC and give me some hints.

Cheers,

Kuba

hi - if you've got a relatively early planing board, then your sails should do the job. i'm about the same weight and get by with 4.2 to 5.1 and 100l board too

it's been a pretty slow season since christmas. should start to pick up from august onward

Thanks heaps Haircut!

Nope, I don't have board yet but something like quad 90-100l should be ok, right? I was told to buy 110 slalom board to get most of GC wind but I would rather go to sea.

4.2 seems to be small for 15 knots right now but I hope the wind will pick up ;)

Where windsurfing spots are located? What's your favourite spot?

u r welcome

i use a straight freestyle most of the time. quad might be a bit slow to get onto the plane, but a recent freestyle-wave would probably do the job and cover you for ocean and broadwater sailing. south east queensland doesn't get a lot of wind above 15knots

my closest spot is shearwater esplanade in runaway bay. it's a mixed bag, but it's arguably the windiest of all gc sailing spots and with the cleanest wind.

Kirra will give you some fun days in the surf this time of year. the far southern end of the gc gets seabreezes earlier in the season, then by october - march the northern end often gets it best

people have spread themselves out along the coast much more so in recent years, and you'll usually find someone to sail with wherever you go
