Hi Everyone,

I've been out of windsurfing for a while now (9 years). The last place I sailed was the Persian Gulf lol. I've been living in Mango Hill on the Redcliffe Peninsula since September (2014) and am looking at getting back into windsurfing. I have my gear still:
* 94 litre (I know boards don't go by litres anymore) Mistral Flow
* a 124 ltr Fanatic (can't remember the name)
* a larger 150+ ltr board.

I can waterstart (or could) and am in the straps and harness and can successfully pull off 50% of gybes.

I was just wondering where is a good place to go where there are other sailors in the Redcliffe area. I've seen a lot of Kite Surfers at Scarborough and it looks a pretty good spot in a north easterly but haven't seen any windsurfers out amongst them. Is that a no-no?

Hey Marty, we sail from Queens probably where you saw the kites.
We sailed yesterday, here some pics : www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/Queensland/Nice-Breeze-At-Reddy-Today/
Most of the time there are kites/windsurfers at the same spot. I have never had any problems with them. We generally go further out and more up wind.
South easter's are great here too.

Hi Surfinfreak, Ah okay thanks. Is Queens on the Bay side (east) of Scarborough or the west side near the Marina? What are the conditions normally. It looks pretty awesome from your photo's. Looks like you all have roughly 6.5m2 sails up?

Queens is on Flinders Parade, next beach south of the Scarborough 'foreshore'. So the eastern side. I was on 6.1m and 100L and powered up 95%. The other sailor in the pics was on 7.5m and started on 115L, he was overpowered so got a smaller board out. The photographer came out on 6.8m and 111L and am guessing he was pretty sweet the whole time.

Awesome. Sounds like it was an awesome day. I've got a range of sails from 4.5m2 up to 8.5m2 so should be covered. Just need to get out there :)Are there any apps that people use to decided on the wind/waves/location etc?

Gooday Marty, you can give Pebble Beach at Sandstone point a go, waist to chest deep at high tide for hundereds of meters out and and onshore in a southerly. Friday looks good.

Just watch weather maps and these forums, sometimes people mention where they will be heading. At Reddy, Queens works North to North easterly and south easterly, Scotts Point in a Southerly and South Easterly and some people also sail here on a north easterly.
If it's west or south westerly then have a look at Woody Point.

If there is wind, particularly on a weekend there will be someone sailing on the Peninsula, usually Queens and sometimes Scotts Point.
As I work shifts I sail in the week as well if there is wind, hopefully a stray kite or two is usually around also so I am not sailing totally by myself.

As mentioned above Sandstone also gets a regular crew.
