From what I hear is it's empty? I'll drive past tomorrow and have a look and let you know.

The level is low but it looks very similar to a few seasons back, It would be sailable but very shallow in some spots. Couldn't really see the weed situation but it's normally very think and weed fins were a must. There's a rock island that is just showing which is very shallow and surrounded by lots of rocks so stay well clear of that and don't be tempted to gybe around it found out the hard way.

Thanks a lot jh2703, I've never been there and sometimes the forecast further south is better than Sydney....

After today's in Botany it looks sooooo flat

powersloshin there hasn't been any water in the lake until the last lot of rain , so there shouldn't be any weed or very little but you will need a weed fin any way, going by the first pic the water level would be about the same as in the vids
the vids were taken in a southerly with shallow water and flat, when the lake is full a southerly can be like a washing machine
a thumb to rule is Sydney will get stronger southerlies than jervis bay but jervis bay will have stronger n/easters
we have guys traveling 2 1/2 hrs from Sydney to sail

Hi Keef,

I'm thinking of heading north to Canton - It doesn't look west enough for Illawarra...

good choice mike
I had a look at the lake today and it looks like it has dropped since jase took those pics , which is under stand able seeing it was empty for so long , jase and I are going to have a look and hopefully the wind will move some water to the southern end, if not we will be sailing s/p
I wouldn't recommend traveling any distance because you mite be disappointed
