I learned to windsurf at Nambucca back in the 80s. The river there used to be good for windsurfing but over the years it has silted up. Whatever run you get there will be fairly short. If you have a very small fin and can time it for high tide then it might be good. I think any wind direction would be fine. A few blokes used to windsurf off the beaches but I'm not sure if they still do.

There is a beach off headland between Urunga and Valla which where people go windsurfing. I think its called Wenona or something like that but I've never seen it written down. If you look at a map its pretty clear where it is as its the only headland between Hungry Heads and Valla.

Hey Gestalt, here's some more info for ya.

PS- If you head down, call into SWR's. Be good to have a sail with ya.

Cheers

Definitely on my bucket list Phil. would be good to catch up and have a sail!

At this stage aiming for September holidays next year to get to SWR and Hat head. Will depend on work and family.

The ozwindsurf article is excellent. I've been using that and the NSWWA spot guide for information.
Also been using my copy of nat young's surfing and sailboard guide to Australia and the NSW parks and wildlife website as well as goggle earth.

so many amazing spots along the east coast.

That is a great book. I got mine as a teenager and still have it as a reference many, many years later

That's a bugger it's silting up. I was hoping to get a run in the Corrindi River last week but it's silted up and only really possible at dead high tide with a freestyle fin.

I looked in the front of my nat's guide and there is a tiga sticker, a wild winds sticker and a bombora sticker. got love the early 90's.

are there any other books you guys have seen or used? in the back of my mind I've been thinking of writing a guide myself. I keep fairly detailed notes and photos of the spots I visit plus have conversations with the locals.
