Were is everyone sailing today? lake mac or canton for some flat
water blasting, looks like it should be good most of the day. Anyone seen
the water anywere.
La Perouse. Had it all to myself in the middle of the day.
T'was tricky to start from the normal launch with that much southerly. Some fabulous swell to play with but the wind was patchy because it was coming over Cape Solander.
Kymeeah would have been the place to be.
2 out at kyeemagh about 1pm, looked pretty steady 15K+, I was droppping my wife at the airport - not permenantly!
Sorry, but you've missed an epic mast high day in the vicinity of White Rock, north side of Long Reef. There were about 4 out prior to lunch, along with some kiteboarders; and 3 wavesailors out later in the arvo. One of the best arvo sessions I've had in probably 3 years. Someone might have shot some pics from the headland - and hopefully they might post??
Still at woolgoolga today.
It was looking like it was going to be all time when we arrived at flat top.
But the wind became a bit on shore and light. The waves went from perfect to average very quickly.
3/4 mast at Newport Reef - Nico was killing it!
Then I got in the arvo at White Rock with Ryan and another guy - so smooth on the inside and there was enough wind bending around the headland. And it was a genuine mast+ on the big sets without the consequences of Newport earlier in the day - my board has to go to the doctor....
Also drove past Peggies on the way to the lake. But walking the dog past Bellambi boat ramp at 6.30pm the waves looked nice and smooth. Not that i'm a wavesailor. I've heard people wavesail there occasionally? The rigging area and launch would be fairly ordinary, no boats to worry about yesterday.
tim,
how did you manage Newport, I thought it was a bit SSW and doesn't it need to be at least S or SSE?
anyway, good you got out twice, those days are long gone for me. I had to take a look at white rock (albeit unable to sail with 3 kids) and suspect that was you out off the pool about 4pm. Shame the tide was so high as that swell was big with plenty of bomb sets.
Hmm, hard to tell from that distance - the sail looks like my 2nd hand 12 to 15yo North Vertigo 5.3 - yellow, grey, & clear. I was out from about 3:50 to 5:20pm. That pic looks like I was on the way out around 4pm - not particularly exciting.
Canton c 15-20 kts+ most of the day . Bit of S so out into the chop.1st time I used the bigger sails with smaller boards and I actually enjoyed the chop! Even tried some pretty average jumps..
heaps out + about 4 kites..Had one very worried looking kiter when I looked through my sail and realised he was about 10 Ft downwind & level with me.
I'm not used to being around kiters but we both survived.![]()
Long runs if you go towards the other side.
I ended up sailing at valentine, i stoped there for a look on me to canton & it was picking so ruff water it was. was a few guys there 6-8. went a bit SE after 1pm got smoother on the inside but had to stay off the beach a 100m to stay in the wind.
sailing canton has seemed to improve me gybes in 2ft chop, only fell in 3 times in 3hours.
my port side gybes are good just need to practice starboard one's more, oh maybe today i can do that. anyone heading out at canton or there now it looks like its picking up enough. see you's there in a couple of hours.
