Anyone got any thoughts on where might be good for a wave sail tomorrow? It might be rained out but still could be worth a shot.
Tom, I'm surprised you don't know but Brownwater/Fisherman's off beach near the boat ramp. Should be some 1-1.5m waves off the rock shelf. Rain could be a nuisance but it hopefully will be pretty windy! ![]()
well wasn't today a big let down. Monday looks like back to NE morning then ENE then E - in between all the rain. Might be some waves about.
After seeing the news, there's apparently some pretty serious weather moving down from QLD. They seems to say it would increase all day and peak in the evening. I guess i'll use small gear until it becomes too strong.
And yeah, after experiencing yesterday (same forecast as today until 10am run), today was quite a let down... But I'd be careful about tomorrow, Kyeemagh should be about safe in case it turns out to be more than 45kt.
hopefully wanda works.. so long as this wind doesn't have too much east in it.. Forecast is all over the place but at the moment looks somewhat promising
If worst comes to worst you could walk a few k toward boat harbour, but then the surf will be smaller
i would not worry about it being too small, looks to be heaps of swell coming in.
hope the wind builds, might head down and have a look shortly.
Yep plenty of swell on the way !
Big up this way and heading south !
Watching and waiting for the Nelson Bay Heads to start breaking
Wanda is almost sailable .. raining lots.. big flat spells between big sets ..
Phones not letting me post a photo
So far the wind has been crap all day... So much for the warnings. 25kt of wind isn't worth rigging under the rain. So Saturday was definitely the day. ![]()
Once upon a time we simply called it a "storm", if it was especially bad it was a "bad storm", now it's a f**king "flood crisis"...media hype BS!! Lets not buy into the melodrama and create a nation of histrionic whimps
..... anyone get out today ??
went out at cronulla with oil.
was not too bad, all over the shop though. from 0 knots to 12 knots cross shore to 25 knots onshore.
a bit damp, but still better than another day on the couch.
Saw your truck parked up, thought you were surfing .Wind cone was spinning 360deg ,Wish I went down to watch now ... Could have been good laugh ![]()
could be 20-25 K NE in the morning, then again 5-20 with squalls. Quite hard to predict with all this rain. Dying off pretty quickly as well.
The S with the ENE swell makes for a good combo at Makaha (sideways waves) - shame it's short lived.
Anyone seen makaha? Is it doable or out of control?
Weighing up the options now the southerly has hit.
Hey DunkO,
Can see it from my window and its big, actually really big!
There is a bit of wind on it though but you would be dodging sets as its also breaking out off the wall and nearly rolling into Makaha. Centuries just off Whiterock might be a better option? Not sure about the wind shadow though.
Be good to see someone hit it, if you head out I will come down and watch ha ha
Cheers
Greg
Greg,
Feel free to update more often. 2 posts!! Saying that, I normally head down to Longy/Collaroy once it hits 15 knots.
What a joke, 2 days of 'Storm force winds forecast' and the best we get is a few random 25kts gusts, and I do mean gusts and a **** southerly. BOM...I'm looking at you and i'm not happy ![]()
baysurf was 2 ft. slogged out to jibbon point but there was too much of a wind shadow behind the cliff at the takeoff which was a bummer.
did you end up going makaha duncan?
checked it out waves looked good but was really glassy on the inside and the wind was dropping. so no go
