I'm fortunate to have tomorrow off work and was thinking about driving up to the Canton area for a sail. I don't want to sail a new spot alone... is anyone going to be around?

Gidday Nigel.
If your going to Canton or any of the lakes up that way a good weedy is mandatory. In fact with the water level so low a Delta or something that is 45-50 deg of rake is the only thing that will work. The weed is super thick and water shallow. Be careful, its gonna be windy!!!!!!!!!

Yes and you don't need a weed fin: go to George's river, launch from the sailing club close to the bridge, probably there will be other windsurfers there. It will be pretty choppy, but you are safe, the wind will always carry you back, just make sure not to jibe too close to the bridge, if you lose it and are not quick to start again the tide might carry you on the other side and then it's impossible to come back. My track of shame below

You walked your gear back over the bridge

There is a mini beach just accross it and then you can walk under
