hi all
just getting back into it
had a dream wanted to get back on a board after a few years away from the sport
got myself some gear and now i'm back love to know what winds work well for palm beach and narabeen lake ... mind u sounds a bit cold in the lake !!
thanks for your help will be wanting to get out sat if anyone's keen to babysit
cheers ![]()
Hi Lelos,
Narrabeen is best in easterly winds from the north east, through east through to south east. Westerlies can be okay and south westerlies work in certain spots.
I have sailed Palm Beach on the Pittwater side in a north wester and north easter and both were good. I think any direction works there except when the wind has too much west in it.
If its windy this Saturday I'll go sailing.
Moby,
I am in town this weekend with no plans, so definitely up for a session on Saturday pending any wind.... Forecast on BOM ain't looking too promising, but fingers crossed. Let me know where you are thinking of going.

How did you go today?
I did not go windsurfing, down at Mount Kembla near Wollongong for the coal minining disaster commeration. One of my ancestors was a hero of the great disaster of 1902 where about one hundred miners died. It was a great day. I hope you all had a nice day windsurfing, the wind looked great.
Got out at la perouse yesterday, Frenchmans beach was a amazing with 4 hang gliders lauched from the dunes and hovering over the shoreline.
4 kiters weaving between the boats, boosting massive jumps, moored inshore and a few of us blasting across the bay.
The sun was out an the tourists were seeing why we enjoy the wind and water, even in winter
.
Yeah im heading out to the lake sunday at about 11am , im bringing a mate of mine who can actually sail : ) hopefully see you there mate
I might go, depending on the wind. I have a bit of a cold and don't feel the best right now so I'll see how I go. However having a good windsurfing session does wonders for a head cold.
A mate of mine has just moved back to Manly from the bush. We used to sail together when we were kids in high school - every chance we got. He is keen to get back into it and I want to bring my gear up one weekend and head to Narrabeen Lake.
Where exactly do you go at Narrabeen? Its been a long time since I was up around that area, so any locations would be appreciated.
Cheers

The above link shows both locations of Narrabeen Lake, depending on wind direction. I have no idea which is better suited to what wind direction as i have only been sailing a total of 3 times, so i cant help you with that one.
I dont believe there is a pay station at the western car parking area tho.
Enjoy
Matt
Basically the western carpark is used in summer for NE winds and the north car park is used for launching in Westerly and SE winds.
There were a fair few people there on Sunday which was good to see. I arrived too late and have a bad cold so didn't go out. It was nice watching though. There were a couple of guys who were very good on Starboard boards and KA sails. They were a matching pair. Excellent sailors.
