After weeks of light wind I decided I needed to get a big old board just to get out on the water. I thought about my first board purchased new in1983 a crit 355 . so I had a search on Gumtree and couldn't believe my luck when I saw the same model advertised very close to home complete with the original rig . I went over to have a look at the gear the next day and on close inspection discovered that this was the very board that had once belonged to me and that the owner had purchased it from the same person I sold it to in 1986. I was totally blown away and had to buy it especially since the guy only wanted a fifty for it. I can't wait to get back on it for old times sake just like the excitement of getting some new stuff. Just thinking about it and bingo am I psychic, lucky or just too old and getting sentimental?
What a great find!
I've had it happen to me, but it wasn't like in your case where it's the same guy that you sold to.
Enjoy your new old board.
I knew that it was my old board because of a specific scratch that I made in the deck that occurred when I found a friend's pinched outboard motor lying just under the surface of the water off primbee. I lifted it onto the board to float it to the shore making the scratch that was very unique as it has three stages of movement to it. My friend was very happy to get his motor back and he got it going again. He was very lucky that I ran across it out there too.
Great Story! I would love to find my first (real wave) board, maybe I'll post a message with a drawing and see if it's out there
Bombora Proto 7'9'' green with red trapeze shapes on the bottom, would be a treasure to find :)
