hi
I was just racing the manly ferry across the heads and i kept up with it!!
No big deal i hear you say. except it was upwind and light to moderate wind.
I use to do this on a mistral one design and these days with a RSX but that was downwind in a gale.
The gear was JP formula and NP 12m evo3 and a huge fin. i started near little manly and finished just past lady jane beach. when i tacked i couldnt get going again so it was light wind but i planed the whole way!!
i was a bit rusty so i figure the gear is pretty good these days
regards j
That's a good effort .I did beat the river cat at abbotsford for a short distance once then i stacked lol.
Have too go back too that job again so if its windy I will give it another go ![]()
Considering your placings over the summer series Justin I am not surprised.
I suggest you self handicap by going back to the RSX sail on the JP - thats fair to the rest of us![]()
Hopefully Windsufering will read your comparison between RSX and formula speeds and weep
Just imagine how much better Sydney would be if the everyone windsurfed to work instead of caught the Ferry? Be quite a leg up for formula sailing too!
Go Justine! Did you launch from Clontarf mate? Send me a text next time your heading down there. As Ben mentioned though, can you please bring the RSX sail down with you?![]()
A Formula boards travels at 14-18knots up-wind, so keeping up with the Manly ferry
is definitely on the cards. Sydney harbour can be a bit scary huh....
I think the manly ferry does 15 knots and I am not sure what the river cats speed is, it looks faster.
to beat the river cat in parramatta river is pretty good as the wind is patchy there.
Hi Ben, not planning on going back to the RSX sail. Ha Ha. I am planning on getting more comfortable on the formula board for my safety and those around me and I figure that will make me faster, sorry.
I will text you Adam when I am heading out again, not a great forecast for the coming week.
