anyone planning on heading south to georra this sat? or where in sydney is good for a wave sesh in the sw??
Im heading down with the board in tow but not really for the wave, want to ride some nice open water.
I'm certainly giving that option some serious consideration. Will keep a close eye on the forecast over the next 24 hours. My other option was going to head off La Perouse as it's only 5 mins from where I live and I don't want to waste the morning driving and missing out on the best wind.
Fingers crossed.
La Perouse ya say? hmmm, might go round that side tomorrow too in the morning.... not sure where to launch from but angle seems right...
on a big swell you get a very solid (read scary) wave breaking just of the old jail there.
However, given that the ocean is currently flat as a lake I don't think there will be too much in the way of proper waves anywhere.
I think La Perouse or maybe the far northern end of Wanda will be the go as far the Sydney South side is concerned.
Just went for a quick peek up to La Perouse. It's looking pretty good, wind is consistent and there are some nice little peaks for some bump and jump action. The sun is out making it look very inviting, although its pretty chilly. Will hopefully get away from work early this arvo and get a quick session in.
wind readings indicate W rather than SW as yesterday so kurnel and la perouse seem like the go if it keeps that direction.... everywhere else will be complete off shore, if it switches SW then ill be off to wanda although was dead flat this morning, will check on coastalwatch cams. Wind is definately there so definately going to have to get off early today, its been too long....
Luckily I got a session in yesterday arvo as once again the wind seems to be up to it's old weekend doldrum tricks. Wind was sweet, just wish there was more swell...did manage to get onto a few shin high bombs though ![]()
La Perouse was definitely the best place for a sail here in Sydney yesterday.
The wind really came back in around 3pm. Most people had left by that stage. Wind got really steady considering it was a SWer. I was on a 4.7 slightly overpowered so I guess it must have been somewhere around a solid 30knts.
There was enough light until about 5:30 but since I was the only one left on the water decided to call it a day...
