Best place to sail in NW on lake macquarie is Marmong Point. I am aiming to be their for 1.00pm and sail all afternoon. Forecast is to build.

Thanks sue, i will chase him up & see if he going there today.
Marmong is ok but just gusty & i herd that the tree's have grown so can only sail from the point & wind dont get along the beach now.
havnt sailed the bay before so its tempting to head there.
How windy is it at canton if norah has 20+? only ever seen 10kts at norah
& people cranking at canton.

Not sure in a NW but I'd say Norah under reads by 5 - 10kts.. in a W - Sw ??? maybe. The locals should be able to give a better estimate.Id prefer Canton only because I know it and you need to follow a channel out a bit ( or stay in it for speed runs) at the Co Op. Leaving for the Co op now. Ill check Canton on the way.Co Op is great if you know the area - similar to Canton flat water.

Sorry just before the bridge as you go south..I actually got a bit lost today as the turnoff isnt very well signposted. There is a boat ramp there as you go in so it should show up on a map..
Interesting day today...
I was going to test a 7.2m but came in too much.. Lucky I didn't someone ( wont mention names ) was taking their board off the car and it blew off and was damaged..someone else who's a very good sailor had a massive stack .Catapulted went through their sail and broke the mast in 3 places and badly hurt their foot which was still in the strap as they went over the front..This was just before I was going to go out knowing I'd be grossly overpowered & boarded....
I went out with the 3.8m ( I left my 3.2m at home didn't i?)+ 95ltre ( still waiting on a fin for my 78ltre). Survival only - 3.2m would have been better but I think still too much. Reading 25 -30kts steady on the windmeter - gusts a bit more.
I didn't stay out long as I didn't want to push my luck but it died down a little later and I got 1/2hr . Still survival - crouched down bum almost in the water and front hand right near the mast ready to unhook & throw it if it got deadly..The water was pretty flat ( small chop as shallow). Big ramps out further.. Got one jump but too scared to have a real go as board too big + sail..tried not to go off the wind in the gusts as too scary...Feel good - survived and even did 2 good planing gybes... Boy the first time I've had a really consistently powered up sail with the 3.8m and I've had it 18months now..
The wind angle in the channel wasn't as good as it can be- hard to work back up.
I'm sure the others will add their bit.

Glad I got out as it looks like nothing much will happen now for a while.
It was a bit on the edge at the time but i enjoyed the last 1/2 hr I sailed.I think some of the others enjoyed themselves.
