Was trying to remember with the missus of the old shops of yore, when there were more than one, in the 80s.

There was Rick at Rocky Pt. Rd & Princes Hwy.
There was one at the Spit, east side of bridge, bought one there circa 83.
One at Bondi Jct, near Bondi Rd.

I don't think there ever was one at La P??rouse, always was a cheap tourist surf shop I believe.

Always was the shop near Narrabeen.
Used to be one on Doyalson, on the way to Lake Macquarie.

What else ?? Was there ever one at Parramatta ? Wollongong ??

Tradewinds in Brookvale for a lot of years. In Warringah Mall. I owned it for a few years in the late 80's. Windsurfing was slowly dying back then.
Phil had the Firestation on Pittwater Rd in Narrabeen which is now a kite shop.
Sydney Sailboat Centre in Mona Vale for years. They also had a small place in the CBD, seriously.
Tradewinds also had a small shop in Parramatta.
Balmoral Sailboards at Mosman and Rick Murray had the Mistral shop as well.
John Hall moved Tradewinds to Mona Vale in 1990 and became the Windsurf Shop.
Sam had ECB in Balgowlah and Brookvale and now has Windsurfnsnow in Collaroy.
Sik-em-rex said he remembers around 29 shops back in those days????

Just a few more I remember :
Parramatta Sailboards in Villawood.
Bayside? Sailboards in Lyons Rd. Drummoyne, near Rodd Point.
Snow Business Sports in Sylvania.
Wind, Surf & Sail in Kogarah. Later under a different name (?) in Cronulla.
Aussie Sailboards in Caringbah.

Ah, the good old days !!

PS : There was also a shop in Brighton Le Sands until recent times, but now
it seems WSS in Collaroy is Sydney's only retail outlet.

None in Newcastle now..Any in the central coast ? Hard for beginners as there is no way to try boards unless they can find someone local sailing who has a suitable board which is unlikely.

Long Reef Sailboards at Collaroy owned by Peter Ford is still there but now only sells surf gear.
His son Dave used to run the shop in Brighton Le Sands which was pretty handy for the Kyeemah sailors.
Not sure but I think this must be the oldest shop still surviving in Sydney, even though it doesn't sell WS gear any longer.
Has plenty of wetsuits, thats WS gear.

I remember having my first windsurfing lessons there - Still have the old 'Bai-Sailbords" sticker on my old rusted out box trailer.

Ah, the memories.

Used to go to Bai a fair bit & Rodd Point on wave boards! The Lane Cove shop was run by Rainer & Tom Leudecke (& others?) from
what I remember. I can't recall the exact name, Sydney Sailboard Centre? I think it then became Bias Boating.

Wasn't the Mistral shop on Spit Rd or am I confusing it with Balmoral Boards?

Got my Mike Davis 'custom' from Tradewinds at Brookvale. Still at high school back then.

Lost too many brain cells to remember all those names, but I do remember I once counted them all when I was shopping around for a new board in the late 80's, and there was close to 30 stores in Sydney at the time that sold sailboarding equipment.
