New Date: Sunday 18th Aug

Middle Harbour Skiff Club in Sydney NSW is holding a windsurfing fun race on the 18th of Aug 2013. Any board and ability is welcome to join for a little race followed by BBQ and drinks. There will be boards to lend on the day albeit in limited numbers. For those of you with some dusty gear under the house - this is your opportunity to claim the prestigious Worst Gear Award. For the more competitive sailors - come and race to win. Perhaps an opportunity for GPS Speed Challengers to come along and be fastest around the course.

Notice of Race: http://middleharbourskiffs.com.au/site/images/stories/Sailing_Docs/Season2012-13/winter%20solstice%20windsurfing%20fun%20race%2023-jun-13.pdf

Hope to see you there to kick start the new season

The rig rotates nicely Justin despite the lack of wind early on in the footage! Looks like a nice way to spend a Monday morning.........

All the best for the race ladies and gents

Hi Adam E,
I pushed the cams over with my hand I'm pretty sure. As you know race sails need to be rigid and stable like a fixed wing almost.

Hi Staffan,
Yes its a formula board, Patrik Formula V2. Its in stock . Im also using a 10m Avanti Machine M1-x. Even though Formula is super fast once planning the old wally one design is probably a better bet racing at 16ft Middle Harbour skiff club. Formula is better suited to places like botany bay. I will try the solstice race with formula anyway

I was just logging on to say the same thing Tom. It was such a great feeling sailing down middle harbour on today's NW'er in the sun (on a Wally for the fun of it - borrowed from the wonderful Kerry) and rounding the buoy at Grotto point to reach back up wind together with a mixture of flying Formula boards catching gusts and high-pointing Wallys keeping such tight lines. A really competitive day with 2 races, a beer in between though and a lot of fun people to catch up with. Looking forward to Friday night twilight racing from Middle Harbour 16ft skiff club, right in our own back yard with courses venturing out into Sydney Harbour on Summer NE'rs! Thanks Carina, Staffan, Kerry, Hugh, Glenny (and friend) and Jenny for organising the event, (hope I didn't miss anyone). Great Day, managed a 3rd on a Wally bought off e-bay!

Sorry, forgot to mention the long boards, which took out the event. Those things fly, well done!

Great day guys thouroughly enjoyed sailing my new second hand Wally one design. Thanks to Walshy for the tips on mast location as the second race
was way better than the first.
Thanks to Kerry and Tinny for their hard work and see you all at the Windsurf Movie at Cremorne in sept.
Twilights should start with day light saving.

Aloha

You guys are lucky to still have OD racing in NSW. I am currently trying to find a second hand wally in Perth to relive my youth. I regret selling my old one (which was my fourth) about 15 years ago. My friends regret selling theirs too for peanuts. There must be many many of them under houses and in sheds.

Maybe one day I will come over and round up the back of the fleet with you Alohahugo!

Cheers

Hi Wally sailor
Yep we need as many old and bold OD windsurfers as we can get in as many states as possible. Keep in touch as to how you go setting up OD fleet in the west. Good tip is lots of old boards come out of Victoria.
National titles have been announced for Middle Harbour 16 ft skiff club in Sydney in march 2014. So get a board and get over here or maybe we can charter you a board for a very modest fee and you can then just fly in.

I need some one to talk to at the back of the fleet.

Aloha
