Yachting NSW has thrown it's weight behind helping windsurfing develop through its member yacht clubs.
They are holding windsurfing instructor courses with the intention that graduates can help set up schools at local yacht clubs around the state.

For anyone interested the link is above....If you are interested in getting your Local Club involved then they may help with the cost?

Anyway, it is a step in the right direction....

There is a course very soon: 9-10Aug. In Sydney.

I highly encourage as many people as possible to take up this opportunity. We had 8 people from Inverloch Windsurf club do this course through Yachting Vic back in May. It was great. People have always taught other people to sail just by stuffing around at the beach, each with their own intricacy's based on their sailing style (wave, speed etc), but having a structured syllabus and having all instructors utilising the same language & terminology for our our beginner club members is going to make a huge difference to their progression.
Get around it people!!!

8 people have signed up to the course this weekend, which is fantastic!
This course is closed now.

I have requested YNSW pencil in another course very soon, as there is a lot of interest from others to participate.

In the mean time most of us need to get their:
1 - First Aid Certificate,
2 - Boat handling course.
I believe if you do the Boat handling course you have also done enough for your Boat License.

Hopefully NSW will soon have a pool of qualified instructors available to work with Yacht Clubs and "learn how to sail" businesses in the very near future....

Great news Brett Morris and the first steps perhaps, towards expanding and developing Windsurfing in NSW.

Maybe it's on the back of some recent success in sailing that Yachting Australia have seen fit to share some of the love with us windsurfers? What ever the case, getting kids on the water is the way to go for sure. Great result.

Well done to those that have signed up. Love ya work and hope the course goes well for you all this wk end!
