Needless to say, I was the only one at La Perouse crazy enough to try sailing. It was averaging 35knots, gusting between about 15 and 55knots. I was massively overpowered in the gusts and dead in the water in the lulls, so very exhausting. I hung around for a while as it was predicted to moderate, but it never did. Still, good to be out on the water.
A few of us were down at Sandringham, but the 50kt gusts were certainly a bit of a handful..!
I was tempted to contact the local media and tell them if they wanted some different footage to go to Canton & see the speed sailors..Didn't bother though..It would be a good way to get a bit of coverage for the sport..
