Hello,

I'm taking a honeymoon to Carins so that my fiancee can do some diving there. It seems like a senic area with lots to do. July appears to be the best month for wind and I'm wondering where I can score some intermediate to expert wavesailing in Queensland at that time. I will be renting gear which seems to be an issue. We could take a flight or two to hit some sonic spots with wavesailing if that is a better option.

We may spend some time in Sydney and possible New Zealand during our two week trip. Nothing is planned yet and my dates/month of visit is flexible but I want to be sure I can get in some sailing!!

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

First of all I'm not fat and practice martial arts so you shouldn't say something as disrespectful as you did especially not knowing who you are addressing. Obviously you lack respect and are an undisciplined human being whom I hope I never meet. I would never tolerate a comment like that to my face so you should be careful in the real world how you address ppl. It would have been better for you to have said nothing.

Sav1 sorry for that last comment mate, we're not all that stupid.
Cairns is in Queensland, repost your question there and you'll get help. Green Island's off from Cairns and has great wind that time of year (freeride/slalom) but no hire gear anymore. Can get waves on the reef but too hard for a tourist to access. I don't live there anymore but as said post in the Queensland section and someone might help. Hope you have a good holiday, enjoy

look out everyone he knows martial arts.
I reckon this bloke is going to cop a lot of insults when he gets to Australia with statements like the above. probably even get to test out the his artist skills.

i'm going to name him Wayne.

Curac, with no disrespect meant.

Not sure if you saw the previous offensive "trolls" comments (now removed, thank you mods) which would have lead to Sav1's "direct response".

I think firiebob answered appropriately for all.

Welcome to Australia Sav1 with your new bride when you get here and hope the weather and sailing are good for you both.

i didn't see the offending post, but i think they government should look into this fellow, he seems violent, and he knows martial arts, i don't know if we can afford to have a weapon like that just walking around, I mean we don't just allow guns everywhere, and this guys sounds like a trained killer.

Don't judge a dude based on decision taken from his government. This dude doesn't have to pay for that. For wave sailing spot, what I understood is you have to go south of the great barrier reef. Have fun, play safe! I think NZ will be quite cold in July, maybe stay up north and don't venture too much south. Renting gear is an issue, you are right! Bring yours.

July is a great time of the year to sail in Cairns mainly at Green Island (45min ferry trip from Cairns) where there is 20-25 SE trade winds however the water is flat and more suited to slalom and gear is difficult to source. (Google Green Island Nationals) From a diving point of view is the reef is not normally at its best being so windy. In Sydney it will be winter which is typically a pattern of no wind with strong southerly winds regularly which most sailors don't windsurf. I normally SUP surf or sail in flat water this time of the year. I personally think you would be better to just have a good look around and return for wavesailing in the summer or alternatively spilt your honeymoon and spend a week in Noumea or Maui where you can easily source hire gear.
