You think we have it bad? Those guys in WA have it bad!

I had to use a 8.5m sail most of the time! Some days it was even the wrong direction.... oh the humanity...

(although my friends were using 5.7m and 6.2m sails at the same time, so I don't know what was going wrong there)

Yeah..... except that now when at work I'm not getting pissed off with a honking N/E blowing, because it's not

Even though I had a lot of time off work, got a lot of sailing, had a heap of fun, I agree with Moby.

What about the Seabreeze competition? Visions of summer? I'm thinking of taking a photo of my iPad with Seabreeze in the foreground, with people walking down a wet street with umbrellas in pouring rain and grey skies.

Coz that basically sums up summer.

Yes work is a bit easier to take when it's pouring rain outside.

Summer was late. Finally when it seemed like it was finally here, crappy weather galore. The yard is greener than ever, work is going ok as my mind is not elsewere.

This summer I think I've only had three days of good windsurfing so far that I can remember. Not happy. Rant over.

The season has been so good that my guitar playing has improved immensly!

Rather than risk going stir crazy on the weekends 'waiting for wind', I took up the guitar as a no wind and no risk of bad conditions hobby. Well, all I can say is that I've had plenty of time to practice.

The only downside is that I now have accumulated three guitars, amp and various effects......but it's still a long way from the 6 boards and many sails situation.

But I am working on improving the wind for you, I ordered a new 8m sail recently so its bound to be 6m weather as soon as it arrives.

Yeah the first days of summer, ie early December seemed like a mild winter. Cold southerlies blowing which are great for windsurfing but not exactly what summer is about. Daytime maximum temperatures in the teens. At least the water was warm.

So how does that work?

You need all those guitars so you can play different airs?

And when you reckon its sure to really blow I guess you tune up a ukelele

I need all those guitars just like I need 6 boards! ......there's no logic when it comes to hobbies.

Yeah the 3 weeks I was on crutches..[}:)] Mind you I've had heaps of sails but I'll sail 8kts + & subplaning.
I've had 6 sails in Jan and that includes having 1 1/2 weeks off due to my leg.Better for Southerlies than NE this season and the S are more troughs than fronts so your timing has to be lucky..

Oh well as I am stuck over here in the UK at the moment it's nice to know I'm not missing out on the wind over there.... Next summer better be good though! Friends over in Sydney keep telling me how nearly every day there has been that annoying grey english drizzle for rain! How the world is changing while last year we had our prevailing SWlys blowing in off the Atlantic nearly everyday.! Currently starting to snow over here though...

Today felt like the first summers day all year where it was uncomfortably hot in Sydney. Fortunately it's back to rain and cooler weather tomorrow.

Are we ready to start the 'What a sh!t autumn' tread ? Prize for the best suggestions on what to do to overcome windsurfing frustration

Autumn is not really known for great windsurfing action in NSW. Sure you get days here and there but generally if its not windy then there is no surprise.

I honestly found this summer to be very surprising. The first days of summer were cold and wet but windy. A few good days here and there however in December especially it was a surprise to get a sunny day.

I checked the records of my work's weather station today and the maximum daytime temperature approached or exceded 30 degrees C on five days. I doubt there were that many days where the temperature got to 30 degrees in December either.

Looks like a wet Autumn. In a few years time when we are probably back in drought with high temperatures many will wish for the sort of weather we are now having. Its not bad in many ways to have this sort of weather. Its easier to sleep at night with lower temperatures. All the plants are thriving. Our dams are all full. Farmers are doing and will do well. Food is cheaper.

However the windsurfing is bad.

Great 'on the land.." no bushfire danger , heaps feed , dams full , grass finally growing in 'lawn' ( didn't turn to dust like usual)..bit depressing with all the overcast days but no horrible 40 dgree days or even 35! Hardly used the air con which is good as 2 geckos got into the indoor unit and got zapped mating so blew it up .+ a snake got into the outdoor one & blew itself and the unit up..
Pity not many NE's..few Sthlys though..
